Former Nigerian vice president, Atiku Abubakar, has congratulated comedy group, Ikorodu Bois, and child comedian, Emmanuella Samuel, on their nomination for the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards 2021.
They were nominated in the African Social Media Star category.
Reacting in a Facebook post, Atiku said “We do not lack talents. What we lack is the wherewithal to harness this amazing gifts and the opportunity to manifest them. Congratulations Ikorodu Bois and Emmanuella Samuel on your nomination for the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards 2021.”
Ikorodu Bois gained international recognition after mimicking and recreating trailers of Hollywood movies such as ‘Money Heist‘ and ‘Extraction’.
Locally, they’ve mimicked music videos like ‘Fem‘ by Davido, and ‘Ginger’ by Wizkid ft. Burna Boy, amongst others.
Emmanuella’s nomination makes it the second time she would be nominated for the international award.
In 2016, she won the award for Top Subscribed Creator from YouTube at the inaugural edition of the Sub-Saharan African YouTube Awards.
In this year’s award, Emmanuella and Ikorodu Bois were nominated alongside Kenyan comedian Elsa Majimbo, South Africa’s Bonang Matheba, Uganda’s Ghetto Kids, and South African magician Wian Van Den Berg.
