Former Vice President and 2019 presidential standard bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has raised the minimum wage of all his staff to N33, 000 million.
This followed the agreement reached by labour unions and the Federal Government to peg the country’s new minimum wage at N30, 000 from the current N19, 000.
The move was disclosed by the Managing Director of Gotel Communications, Mohammed El-Yakub.

Gotel Communications is owned by the former Vice President and is based in Yola, Adamawa State.
“The N33, 000 new salary scale, which takes effect from November 2018, includes domestic servants and all categories of workers on the former vice president’s payroll,” El-Yakub said.
Recall that Atiku had through his media office said the President Muhmmadu Buhari administration cannot be trusted to implement the proposed N30, 000 new minimum wage.
But Presidnet Buhari had while receiving FG’s Tripartite Committee’s report on the new proposed new minimum wage, said his government was fully committed to having a new National Minimum Wage Act.
“Our plan is to transmit the Executive bill to the National Assembly for its passage within the shortest possible time.
“I am fully committed to having a new National Minimum Wage Act in the very near future.
“Let me use this opportunity to recognise the leadership of the organized labour and private sector as well as representatives of State and Federal Governments for all your hard work.
“The fact that we are here today, is a notable achievement.
“As the Executive Arm commences its review of your submission, we will continue to engage you all in closing any open areas presented in this report.
“I therefore would like to ask for your patience and understanding in the coming weeks,” the President had said.
