AU Chairperson In Self-isolation After Staff Tests Positive For Coronavirus

The Chairperson of the African Union (AU),Moussa Faki Mahamat, said he had gone into self- isolation after one of his staff tested positive for Coronavirus.

The AU Chairperson made this known in a tweet on Friday.

He also said that some of his aides had been quarantine, as part of the measures to prevent further spread.

I can confirm that one of my collaborators in my Office at the @_AfricanUnion Commission has tested postive for #COVID19. The staffmember is in a stable condition. As a precautionary measury, I am under quarantine as are some other collaborators in my Office. #StaySafeStayHome

As of the time of this report, there were 3426 confirmed cases of covid-19 in 46 Africa countries; with 94 deaths, according to AU figures.

The AU is a continental union made up of 55 member states in the continent of Africa.
