Australia: EPL Goalkeeper Pledges Huge Donation To Fire Rescue After Weekend Fixtures

Premier League goal keeper, Socceroo Mat Ryan has said he will donate AUD 500 (N 124,166) to Australia’s wildfire rescue for every save made by a Premier League goalkeeper (EPL) in this weekend encounters.

Mat Ryan pledged the donation on his twitter @MatyRyan following the months long Australian wildfire which has reportedly destroyed vegetations, killing 27 people and “over 1 billion animals,” according to Chris Dickman, an ecologist at the University of Sydney.

The Australian international goalkeeper will be in action for Brighton against Everton on Saturday, as he said the funds raised will be donated to WIRES Australian Wildlife Rescue Organisation emergency fund.

The US dollar equivalent of AUD 500 is about $343and in the naira about a whooping sum of  N 124,166 for every registered save by every premier league goalkeeper in a 20 match fixtures that would hold Saturday and Sunday.

The statement on twitter reads: “In light of the devastation caused by the bush fire back home, I’m donating 500 Australian dollar for every registered save by all premier league goalkeepers across every premier league fixture for this weekend.”

Meanwhile, Ryan has received commendations from fans and other well meaning people on twitter.
