Aviation Unions To Begin Strike In Seven Days Over Salary Shortfalls

Nigerian aviation Unions have given the Federal Airports Authorities of Nigeria seven days to settle their demands, or risk a nationwide industrial action.

The union said this on Wednesday in a joint statement addressed to the Managing Director of FAAN.

The statement was signed by the three major aviation unions in the country including, the National Union of Air Transports Employees , Air Transport Services Senior Association of Nigeria and Association of Nigeria Aviation Professional.

The unions said, “The Management is hereby notified that if within seven days from the date of the notice all shortfalls in salary payments are not fully rectified and settled, our unions will commence an indefinite industrial action against the Authority.”

The unions also cited full remittances of all outstanding Co-operatives, pensions, tax, deductions and full payment of all outstanding allowances, grants and claims as issues yet to be resolved.

“With this notice all members nationwide are directed to remain mobilised and ready for whatever actions that may be decided by failure of management to meet the demands,” the unions said.

 The statement was endorsed by the NUATE, General Secretary, Ocheme Aba, ATSSSAN, Deputy General Secretary, Frances Akinjole and ANAP Secretary-General, Abdul Rasaq Saidu.
