Baba Ijesha Granted Bail After Protest

Popular Nollywood actor, Olarenwaju James, also known as Baba Ijesha, has been granted bail by a magistrate weeks after he was arrested for alleged sexual molestation of a minor.

THE WHISTLER reported that the police in Lagos State had on April 22 arrested Baba Ijesha on the grounds that the Yoruba film actor allegedly molested a 14-year-old girl.

His bail came after another Nollywood actor, Yomi Fabiyi, on May 12, led others to protest against his continued detention by the police.

Fabiyi had argued that the accused should be charged to court.

Meanwhile, Nigerian courts are locked because of an ongoing strike by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria.

Foundation for Investigative Journalism reports that his bail “came as a result of magistrates going around police stations across Lagos State, listening to cases and giving hearing to those arrested.”

His health was said to be deteriorating.
