Baby’s Poop Good Treatment For Diabetes

We might be seeing baby poop drinks in no time, as scientists have found a bacteria in baby’s poop useful for the treatment of diseases especially diabetes, obesity, autoimmune disorders and cancer.

This magical treatment was traced in a study led by Hariom Yadav, assistant professor of molecular medicine at Wake Forest School of Medicine.

Yadav’s team gathered feces from 34 healthy babies and fed it to mice. After a robust “isolation, characterization and safety validation of infant gut-origin Lactobacillus and Enterococcus strains with probiotic (a microorganism introduced into the body for its beneficial qualities) attributes”, the mice were given a single dose, as well as five consecutive doses of this 10-strain probiotic “cocktail” while they injected the same dosage in the human faeces medium.

The result showed that probiotic “cocktail” derived from gut bacteria strains found in infant feces may help increase the body’s ability to produce short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs).

“People with diabetes, obesity, autoimmune disorders and cancers frequently have fewer short-chain fatty acids. Increasing them may be helpful in maintaining or even restoring a normal gut environment, and hopefully, improving health.

“This work provides evidence that these human-origin probiotics could be exploited as biotherapeutic regimens for human diseases associated with gut microbiome imbalance and decreased SCFA production in the gut,” said Yadav.
