A former Senator, Shehu Sani, has called for an end to killings and attacks by bandits in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.

Sani stated this on Thursday on his twitter handle.

Over seventy bandits were said to have stormed Kagara, the headquarters of the local government, on Wednesday.

They were also said to be well armed with different weapons. They entered the town on over thirty motorcycles with each conveying at least two persons.

The bandits had collected some motorcycles from youths they met on their way and also robbed a new generation bank in the area. People abandoned all they were doing and ran for their lives.

While reacting to the incident, Sani decried the constant attacks in the area, which he said hosted thousands of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

He said: “Kagara the headquarters of Rafi Lg in Niger state has always been insulated from the attacks of armed bandits.

“It hosts thousands of IDPs who made it their new home. The attack on Kagara by Bandits yesterday further compounds the problem. This violence must end now.”

Rafi local government, has in recent times witnessed series of bandits attacks and in some cases, leading to abduction and deaths of the residents.
