Bandits Kidnap Four Women In Niger State

Armed bandits have kidnapped four women at Agwan Gwari Kwamba in the Suleja area of Niger state.

The Niger State Commissioner of Police, Monday Kuryas, confirmed the abduction to newsmen in Minna, the Niger State capital.

According to him, the incident occurred at about 1am on Thursday morning at Haske Dabara community, few kilometers from suleja.

He said “Yes, it happened at about 1 a.m. last night and already anti-kidnapping team, the army, and vigilantes had been deployed to rescue the victims.

“We will do everything humanly possible to apprehend all those miscreants undermining the peaceful coexistence among residents.”

He appealed to residents, especially rural dwellers, to come forward with credible information to help the police command rescue the abducted persons.

The police commissioner also solicited more working support by coming forward with intelligence information that could aid the security personnel deployed across the state in the ongoing fight against kidnapping, banditry and other criminal elements in the state.

In recent times, Niger State had seen a spike in kidnap cases, amid the challenges of banditry and terrorism already bedevilling the state.

In October, a report by HumAngle shows that one is more likely to be kidnapped in Niger state.

An analysis of media reported abductions between Jan. 1 and June 30, 2021 showed that 12.3 percent of the cases were from Niger State
