Bank Robbery: Four Killed As Hunters Clash With Police Over Arrested Suspect

Four persons including a policeman have been reportedly killed as hunters and some residents of Okeho engaged the police in a fight to prevent them from taking away one suspect arrested in connection with the bank robbery in the town.

It was gathered that the hunters killed four of the armed robbers on Wednesday and pursued the remaining two that escaped.

Residents told THE WHISTLER that one of the armed robbers was arrested on Thursday morning while the corpse of the injured one was recovered from the bush.

However, while trying to forcefully take the o only living suspect away to custody, residents were said to have prevented this and it led to a heated argument.

One of the residents who spoke on condition of anonimity told THE WHISTLER that one of the policemen shot one person dead.

” This development made the people to be angry and they also killed one policeman.

” The policeman then opened fire and killed two more persons. The town is boiling now .”

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr Olugbenga Fadeyi, has yet to confirm the latest development.

He did not pick the calls put across to him and has not responded to the text message sent to him.
