Barcelona Fans Oppose Club’s Push For Gay Rights

FC Barcelona on Monday tweeted its logo with the LGBTQ rainbow colour, but most of the reactions from both its fan and that of other clubs was opposed to the club’s push for gay right.

Since the past five days, the Spanish club have publicly come out as gay sending LGBTQ pride messages on its social media.

The club joined the movement in 2015 as it released a video featuring former players like Dani Alves and Andrés Iniesta among others.

“FC Barcelona, via their Foundation, are adding their support to the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia which will take place next Sunday 17 May,” it announced in 2015.

On Monday, it tweeted alongside the logo, “#Pride2021.”

But a fresh tweet reignited fans’ reaction which suggested the idea was out of place.

Recently, UEFA declined the request from the Munich City Council to light up the Allianz Arena in rainbow colours for the Euro 2020 Group F encounter between Germany and Hungary.

Juventus and Milan have also shown support for LGBT rights after the decision by UEFA.

Reactions:

@AlFraisi7, “I want to know what is the relationship between them and sports! Why is this so important to you! Do all humans get their rights except those? I think there are a million cases that are more important than this and need your support.”

@sultanxo, “I hope people that have cancer get such support, but this shit isn’t for humanity reasons , is it ?
