Barcelona Hands Over Messi’s Number 10 Jersey To Ansu Fati

Barcelona have officially handed over Lionel Messi’s number 10 jersey to its young star Ansu Fati.

According to reports, the Catalan Giants had planned to reserve the shirt until the end of 2021-2022 season, but La Liga rule did not allow the club to pay the respect to its all time best player.

The rules make it compulsory for first-team players to wear numbers 1-25.

The club on Wednesday tweeted, “Our new number 10. Made in La Masia.”

The announcement is coming about 22 days after Messi left Barca to Paris Saint-Germain due to the club’s financial situation.

Messi who made his Barca debut wearing number 30 and subsequently number 19 inherited the number 10 shirt from Brazilian legend Ronaldinho in 2008.
