Bauchi: 596 Dead Workers Still On Government Payroll

The panel set up by the Bauchi state government to screen civil servants and pensioners on its payroll said that it has discovered 596 dead workers on the payroll of the state.

The Chairman of the panel, Adamu Gumba, while delivering the outcome of the screening added that these dead workers have been collecting salaries and allowances for a number of years now.

The state Governor, Bala Mohammed had earlier set up a 17-member panel to uncover the claim that over 41,448 is on the government’s payroll without the compulsory Bank Verification Numbers.

After a partial screening of pensioners resident in the Zaki and katagum local government areas of the state, the panel discovered 20 dead pensioners are still on the payroll.
