Bayelsa Speaker Steps Down

In a move to reflect balance in distribution of political offices, Speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Monday Bubou-Obolo on Wednesday stepped down from his position to enable the emergence of a new speaker.

Bubou-Obolo’s stepping down was said to be as a result of the inauguration of Governor Diri Douye who is from the same Bayelsa Central Senatorial District as the former speaker.

Subsequently, members elected the Deputy Speaker, Abraham Ngobere, as the new Speaker of the Assembly.
