BBNAIJA S6: Over One Billion Votes Recorded In 71 Days

The season six edition of the Big Brother ‘Shine Ya Eye’ reality TV programme recorded a cumulative vote of over one billion from fans of the show.

The host of the reality TV programme, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu revealed this during the grand finale on Sunday.

He said this season surpassed the expectations of the organisers of the show with huge level of interests from viewers of the reality TV programme.

In 2019, during the season 4 edition of the BBNAIJA show, the organisers had said a whopping 240 million votes were recorded and that in the final week of the show alone, a ‘record-breaking’ 50 million votes were casted.

In the 2020 season 5 lockdown edition of the BBNAIJA show, the number of votes recorded according to the show host were about 900 million.

The season 6 edition of the show had premiered on 24 and 25 July 2021 on DStv channel 198 and GOtv channel 29 with 22 housemates.

The various twists that were introduced by the organisers of the show may have led to the huge interests by fans.

For instance, during the second launch night on the 25th of July, 2021, Big Brother announced that there were two fake housemates, called wildcards, that were revealed at the end of first Sunday show.

The two wildcards were revealed to be Maria and Pere that day. Since the housemates guessed incorrectly, no one got evicted on that day.

For going undetected, the wildcards; Maria and Pere were given the opportunity to nominate the other housemates outside the Head of House for eviction.

On Day 14, Biggie introduced 4 new housemates to the Big Brother house: JMK, Michael, Kayvee and Queen making it a total of 26 Housemates that participated in the programme.
