The Senate on Tuesday lifted the 90 days suspension it handed Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of the Delta Central Senatorial District.
The decision followed a ruling by a Federal High Court in Abuja nullifying the suspension, while it accused the upper legislative chamber of not following due process in the matter.
Although the Senate had filed “a stay of execution” at the Appeal Court, the Red Chamber said it has decided to allow Omo-Agege resume plenary because it is “an institution that obeys the law”.
Reacting on Tuesday, Sani said the resolve by the Senate has “set a standard for respect for rule of Law,” challenging “the executives & all security agencies to also respect all court orders pending before them”.
I’m of the view and will insist that the senate should respect the court order given in respect of the suspended Senator, to set a standard for respect for rule of Law;And to challenge the executives & all security agencies to also respect all court orders pending before them.

Disobeying court orders is resistance to the rule of law.We desecrate democracy each time we defy the courts.Every step away from the law is a step towards tyranny. The tower of justice stands on the rock of the rule of law.Liberty is guaranteed when the constitution is respected

The Federal Government has defied several court orders for the continued detention of the immediate past National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.), and the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (Shiites), Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.
Different courts had ordered the release of the former NSA and the Shiite leader but the Federal Government has kept Dasuki and the fiery cleric man in detention without appealing the court rulings ordering their release.
