Ben Bruce, Adesina, Dokpesi To Grace Abuja Archdiocese’s Public Lecture

As part of plans to mark the 2018 World Communication Day (WCD), the Archdiocese of Abuja says it will hold two landmark events for the successful celebration of the day.

Charles Ojugbana, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, who briefed newsmen in Abuja, said a national public lecture and a thanksgiving Holy Mass have been scheduled to commemorate the day.

The lecture, which is slated to hold on Friday at the National Press Centre, Abuja, is themed, ‘Journalism For Peace, The Nigerian Example’.

Renowned public speaker, Fr. George Ehusani, will be the keynote speaker, with other speakers for the day to include, Mr. Femi Adesina (SSA to the President on Media and Publicity) and Sen. Hope Uzodinma.

Dignitaries expected in the event include the Chairman of the event, Engr. Emmanuel Mbaka, the Chairman of Pinnacle communications, Sir Lucky Omoluwa and the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu.

Others are, Chief Raymond Dokpesi, Sen. Ben Murray Bruce and Mr. John Momoh.

Mrs. Unoma Akpabio is Mother of the day, while Chief Gordian Oranika was announced as Father of the day.

“The 2018 World Communication Day (Journalism for Peace) will be rounded off on Sunday 13th May, 2018 with a special Holy Mass to celebrate Nigerian Media Practitioners at the Church of the Assumption, Asokoro starting at 10am,” Ojugbana said.

“The theme for the 2018 WCD (Journalism for Peace) was chosen by the Catholic Pontiff, Pope Francis in January this year to draw attention to the threat that fake news poses to Humanity.”
