Benue: Residents Broke Police Cell To Burn Armed Robbery Suspect Alive

Unconfirmed reports have it that a suspected thief, Nator Ioryue has been set ablaze by an angry mob in Korinya, Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State for alleged armed robbery attack on a businessman named Terna Orakaa.

Ioryue, popularly known as Natooo was said to be a notorious thief and also reported to have set many thieves ablaze for terrorizing the community in the past.

According to a post made on facebook by a resident of the community, MC Peters Atogbon, Orakaa was attacked last night by Nator and his gang on his way home from the market.

“They blocked the road leading to Orakaa’s house at two different points.

“Orakaa however, managed to escape the first barricade but was unfortunately caught up in the second. They rushed on him when he accidentally came into them. He was returning from his shop in company of his daughter who have been helping him with the sales. She however managed to run leaving her dad to the mercy of the robbers. Some of them wanted him killed but others declined, citing that they will always come back if he is still alive.”

“That night, intelligence was gathered and the gang was arrested by members of SARS attached to the Ihugh Division of the Nigeria Police Force,” the post read.

“The robbers were locked at Korinya Police Station but early today Korinya youths forcefully broke into the Korinya-City Police station chanting songs of victory as they forcefully seized, led him away and gave him a jungle justice.”

Orakaa’s shop was said to have come under regular attacks in the past five months. He was also said to have reported the matter to his parish priest, who prayed for him and warned that any further attack on the shop will spell doom for the attackers.

But when THE WHISTLER contacted the Public Relations Officer of the Benue State Police Command, Sewuese Catherine Anene said she was not aware of any mob attack as her office had not been notified.
