Best Fifa Football Awards: Ronaldo Wins Best Player, Giroud, Buffon, Zidane Honoured

Cristiano Ronaldo has been named the Best Men’s player in the world at the 2017 Best FIFA Football Awards.

The Portuguese striker, who is winning this particular award for a second time in a row, was named ahead of long-time rival Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr.

“Thanks a lot for voting for me. I mention Leo and Neymar, great to be here. Real Madrid supporters, my team-mates, my coach, they all support me all year,” Ronaldo said.

“We are in England for the first time and I win consecutive awards. I am really glad, this is a great moment for me. I have fans all over the world.

“I appreciate that. It’s great to be here around great players, I am so happy guys. Thanks and have a great night.”

Lieke Martens of the Netherlands won the Best Female player, for winning the Euro 2017.

Real Madrid coach Zidane was named best men’s coach. Sarina Wiegman was named the best women’s coach for winning Euro 2017.

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud was awarded the Puskas award for best goal, while Juventus and Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon got the best goalkeeper award.

Scottish club, Celtic received fans award for ‘Lisbon Lions’ tribute.

Francis Kone won the FIFA Fair Play award. Kone saved the life of a team-mate while playing in the Czech Republic, incredibly the fourth time he has done so in his career.
