Bichi: ‘Ethnic Bigot, Crass Nepotism’, How Nigerians Knocked Buhari On Social Media

President Muhammadu Buhari has come under fire from numerous quarters following his decision to appoint yet another Northerner into a sensitive security position.

The appointment of Mr. Yusuf Bichi as the Director General of the Department of State Security, has drawn numerous criticisms, with many describing the move as a miscue.

Bichi replaces Mathew Seiyefa, who was the acting DG, following the sack of Lawal Daura in August. His appointment is with effect from the Friday, 14th September.

Majority of Nigerians, who went to social media to vent their anger, were of the opinion that Seiyefa, who is from the Southern part of the country, would have been made the substantive DG of the DSS.

Yusuf Bichi's appointment has nothing to do with competence. If truly he had retired, Buhari merely lived up to his beliefs. I am surprised that some people are surprised. Buhari is a product of federal character but continues to perpetuate crass nepotism & ethno-religious bias.

Buhari brought Yusuf Bichi from retirement to head the DSS since the next six most senior officers to head the Secret Police are all Southerners. He did the same thing in Customs, NIA and most agencies because he knows that nothing would happen.
