Bill Gates Boosts Nigeria’s Covid-19 Response With N388 Million Donation

The founder of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates has made a donation of 1 million dollars (388 million naira) for the fight against covid-19 in Nigeria.

The country’s United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) tweeted about this on Tuesday.

“@UN_Nigeria welcomes the contribution of US$1 million from @gatesfoundation to the One UN COVID-19 response,” it tweeted.

UNDP noted that the Basket Fund was geared towards supporting the Government of Nigeria “during the time of crisis.”

On his part,Mohamed Yahya, UNDP Resident Representative, stressed that the fund would served to boost the country’s fight against covid-19.

“As a recognised COVID-19 Response Financing and Investment Platforms, this facility provides us with a timely opportunity to stand with Nigeria and channel financial contributions towards the COVID-19 multi-sectoral response,” he stated.
