Bishop Oyedepo Explodes Again, Says Coronavirus Is Anti-Church Virus

The Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Oyedepo, has described the coronavirus pandemic as a strategy of the devil and his human agents to stop the growth of the church all over the world.

Oyedepo, who has repeatedly spoken against the shutting down of churches as a result of the lockdown imposed by the government in Nigeria and most nations of the world to curb the spread of COVID-19, said this was a strategy against the church but stated that it was unknown to many.

He spoke on Sunday while delivering his sermon during the end of the month’s thanksgiving service (June) of the church tagged ‘Covenant Day of Breaking Invisible Barriers.’

The bishop said it was surprising to many that while churches which he described as well organised places were shut since March, market places had been opened some weeks back.

Oyedepo said, ” coronavirus is nothing but anti-church virus. Now, freedom of worship is no longer a constitutional right. It is now determined by certain individuals. This is no longer coronavirus, at least in two states- Lagos and Ogun, this is anti-church virus. Caution must be exercised

“There is nothing new under the sun, there was a time they said Israel must not be free. They began to negotiate their liberty and said though ‘you can go but you cannot go far.’ When God came down, the gods of Egypt and their agents were drowned in the Red Sea.

“It is that which hath be, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done and there is no new thing under the sun. History is always repeating itself. Yes, the gods of this word are behind them but there are human instruments that they engage.

“Can anybody silence the church? Never. I have never heard of anybody that got healed in the market but God heals people in the church day and night. We have recorded 114 coronavirus healing testimonies, we got 10 this week. And that is the place that is vulnerable and not the market.

“This is anti-church virus we are fighting. It is the grand design of the devil globally to see how he can silence the church.

“Everybody is in the market running over one another everyday of the week and there is no outbreak from the market but there is outbreak from the church, perceived outbreak.”

He said Christians would not stop speaking against the alleged design to stop the spread of the gospel, saying all the gang up would fail.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari imposed a total lockdown on FCT, Lagos and Ogun states on March 30. He has announced gradual easing of the lockdown but schools and churches, places of worship and other social gatherings have remained shut.
