Black Cats Boiled To Paste, Sold As COVID-19 Drug In Vietnam – Activist

An Animal rights activists has said that black cats are being boiled and turned into paste, and then sold as coronavirus drug in Vietnam.

Julia de Cadenet, founder of the ‘No to Dog Meat’ Charity said that such animals were used for such purposes on the rumours that their bodies can cure COVID-19.

‘There is no evidence whatsoever that eating cats cures coronavirus, and even if there was, this inhumane treatment is a level of cruelty that is unacceptable even for those who eat meat, ” she said.

Metro UK reports that graphic footage taken by campaigners shows rows of dead cats drying in the sun after being slaughtered while another video shows a live cat being placed in a cooking pot as boiling water is poured over it.

The charity group also said the practice was rampant at the country’s capital Hanoi, but bottles of the ‘remedy are also being sold online.

Cadenet also said that such acts needs to stop as it has been proven by health authorities that some pets could transmit diseases.

“This led to many people and the authorities rounding up animals and killing them in China, she said.
