Boko Haram: Air Force Destroys Mass Gathering Of Terrorists, Other Facilities
The Nigerian Air Force, NAF, has announced the successful destruction of a mass gathering of Boko Haram terrorists, a vehicle workshop and a weapon storage factory in Wulge area of Borno State.
This was revealed by the air component commander of the “Operation Lafiya Dole”, Isiaka Amao, during a briefing with journalists in Maiduguri on Thursday.
Amao, who said that his command undertook 40 missions with an 80% success rate, added that scores of terrorists were killed, two militant camps, their vehicle workshop, a weapon storage facility, a bomb-making factory and a boat with fuel were destroyed.

While noting that NAF has made a remarkable progress in the war against Boko Haram insurgency, he said, “The air component struck a mass gathering of Boko Haram terrorists and their leaders at Wulge.
“Report received after the strike was that it was a huge success as many terrorists were killed. The air component has continued to intensify its air effort in support of the ground troops.
“In October, over 40 interdiction missions with over 80 per cent success were carried out. Just to mention a few, we have in the month degraded the terrorists’ logistics in the Sambisa forest,” the commander said.
Amao stressed that although the missions caused the general degradation of the logistical ability of Boko Haram, they would not stop until the group is eliminated.

“The continued air strikes have significantly degraded the capabilities of the terrorists. Likewise, two terrorist hideouts in Sambisa were destroyed.
“Other armed missions were carried out in Geidam, Gamboru, Ngala, Mafa, Kirenowa and Banki towns, among others. These missions were aimed at identifying and destroying opportunity targets and denying terrorists freedom of action,” he said.
However, Amao who claimed successful missions in the towns of Kunshe, Mafa, Ngala, Geidam, Gamboru, Kirenowa, and Banki, reported one casualty, “On a sad note we lost a colleague, Flight Lt. Ebitimi Owei, and a platform during one of the missions. May his gentle soul rest in peace,” he said.
Commodore Amao stressed that the loss of Owei would not hurt the morale of his officers or deter their mission.
