Boko Haram Attacks Borno Govt’s Convoy, Kills 5 Security Officers
Terrorists group, Boko Haram on Friday, attacked a convoy conveying officials of the Borno State Government near Monguno town.
The convoy was ambushed by the insurgents while they were traveling to Baga, where returning IDPs were expected to be recieved by Governor Babagana Zulum.
According to Channels TV, the attack reportedly left five security operatives, including police and military officers, dead.
Also, reports say there were unspecified number of other civilian casualties in the attack.
The terrorists reportedly hijacked an armoured personnel carrier belonging to the police as well as other state government cars during the attack.
Zulum was reported to have earlier been flown to Baga town in an Air Force chopper.
He was said to have held Friday prayers with the troops.
The governor is expected to receive about three thousand civilians who will be transported from IDP camps both in Maiduguri and Monguno on Saturday.
Recall that Zulum’s convoy was ambushed by suspected Boko Haram terrorists last month on his way to Baga to distribute food to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
Speaking with journalists after the attack on him, Zulum had accused the military of being responsible for the attack on his convoy in Baga.
