Boko Haram: Northern Govs Condemn Attack On Zulum’s Convoy

Following the ambush on Borno Governor, Babagana Zulum’s convoy by Boko Haram terrorists, the Northern Governors Forum, on Friday condemned the attack.

The forum described the attack as “callous and reprehensible.”

Recall that THE WHISTLER had on Wednesday reported that Zulum’s convoy was ambushed by the insurgents while on his way to some internally displaced persons’ camps in the Baga area of the state to distribute relief materials.

A statement issued by the forum’s Chairman and Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong, noted that the attack was a desperate attempt to sabotage the efforts of Zulum in reducing the plight of vulnerable people, who had been traumatised by the insurgents.

Lalong said, “This regrettable attack shows the desperation by enemies of peace and humanity at large to jeopardise all efforts towards making life easier for victims of violence in the State over the years.

“The Northern Governors Forum strongly condemns this attack and stands with Governor Zulum who has demonstrated courage in personally reaching out to people in need despite the dangers.

“We urge him not to deterred as he keeps working with security agencies to protect the lives and properties of the people.”
