Boko Haram: Olonisakin, Buratai, Abubakar Relocate To Maiduguri

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonisakin, army chief, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai and that of Airforce, Air Vice Marshal Sadique Abubakar, arrived Maiduguri, the Borno State capital on Tuesday following directives by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, for them to relocate to the epic center of the war against Boko Haram.

Osinbajo had expressed worry last Thursday at a closed-door meeting with all the military chiefs in the wake of a deadly attack on oil exploration team in the Chad Basin.

The attack left over 21 soldiers dead as well as 45 others.

It would be recalled that on May 29, 2015, President Muhammadu Buhari had directed the relocation of the military high command to Maiduguri which led to the creation of a battalion.

It is estimated that Boko Haram terrorists have killed over 181 in about 90 multiple suicide attacks in the past four months.

Premium Times reports that the service chiefs arrived the air force base in Maiduguri at about 11 a.m, and drove in a heavy convoy of armed soldiers to the headquarters of Military Command and Control Centre where the Theatre Commander, LAFIYA DOLE, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru, is expected to brief them.
