- Kills One Health Worker Abducted In Borno

The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), a faction of Boko Haram, have killed one of the three humanitarian workers abducted in Rann, Kala Balge local government area of Borno state.

The victim, Saifura Ahmed, was abducted when the insurgents attacked a military facility in March, killing four soldiers, policemen and three humanitarian workers.

In August, the three health workers begged President Muhammadu Buhari to rescue them from captivity, saying Boko Haram had given them the “final warning”.

Online news platform, The Cable, reports that Ahmed was shot from behind by a member of the insurgents, leaving behind Leman and Alice Ngaddah, a mother of two, of the three people abducted in Rann on March 1.

Ahmed worked with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), while the two others are staff of UNICEF.

A spokesman of the group, said the insurgents had contacted the government over the captives but got no response, which necessitated Ahmed’s murder.

“We contacted the government through writing and also sent audio messages but the government have ignored us. So, here is a message of blood.

“The other nurse and midwife will be executed in similar manner in one month, including Leah Sharibu,” he said.

Sharibu, a Christian girl, was abducted in February, alongside more than 118 others.

ISWAP released all the girls who were captured, except five who reportedly died in detention, but refused to release Sharibu for refusing to renounce her faith.

The Cable had released an audio recording of Sharibu, pleading with the President Buhari not to forget her in the hands of her captors.
