Borno Killings: Reps Invite Buhari ‘To Explain Nigeria’s Security Situation’

The House of Representatives, during its plenary on Tuesday, resolved to invite President Muhammadu Buhari to “brief lawmakers on the security situation in the country.”

The motion was moved by Rep. Satomi Ahmad (representing Jere Federal Constituency ) as well as nine other lawmakers from Borno State.

Recall that about 43 farmers in Borno were killed by terrorists on Saturday, resulting in widespread condemnation both locally and internationally.

Meanwhile, the Speaker, Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila, had to hold a brief executive session as to whether to invite the President.

After the deliberations, the House finally endorsed the motion through a unanimous vote.


The lawmakers said adding the country’s security architecture needed urgent reorganization.

According to a tweet by the House of Reps, “The member representing Damboa/Chibok/Gwoza Federal Constituency, Rep. Ahmad Jaha, amended the motion to read: Invite Mr President to come to the House and explain the security situation in the country.”
