Brazil Fan Takes Poison After Copa America Final Loss To Argentina

A fan of Brazil in Bangladesh has poisoned himself following Sunday’s loss to Argentina in the Copa America.

According to local media, Prothom Alo English Desk, the victim Mohammad Kamal, 20, whose father was Amir Hossain took the poison just after Argentina clinched the title.

Kamal lives at the North Chakmarkul in Ramu upazila, Cox’s Bazar.

Local Police said the 20-year-old was undergoing treatment in Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.

A Medical officer at Ramu Upazila Health Complex, Dr Efazul Haque, disclosed that Kamal was first rushed to the health complex when he was unconscious.

Haque further revealed that the victim was however referred to Sadar Hospital for better treatment after his stomach was cleared.

This is not the first time a suicide is taking place due to a loss by either Brazil or Argentina.

In 2018, after Argentina loss to Croatia 3-0 in the group stage of the FIFA World Cup , a fan of Argentina and Lionel Messi, Dinu Alex, reportedly committed suicide after the team’s poor performance Kerala police said.

In the same 2018 World Cup, Argentina was eliminated from the World Cup after a 4-3 defeat by France.

Following the defeat, an Indian and a fan of Messi and Argentina, Monotosh Halder, reportedly committed suicide.
