BREAKING: Abdulmumin Jibrin To Resume Legislative Duties As Reps Lift Suspension

The House of Representatives has lifted a suspension it placed on Abdulmumin Jibrin, a former Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation.

Jibrin, a member of the House from Kano, was suspended after he made damning allegations against the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, his Deputy, Yussuf Lasun; Chief Whip, Ado Doguwa; Minority Leader, Leo Ogor; and nine other members, accusing them of padding the 2016 budget.

Despite Jibrin’s effort to restrain the House from preventing him from performing his legislative duties, he was suspended for a period of 180 legislative days.

It was learnt that the lawmakers suspension was lifted following a letter he personally signed allegedly apologising to the House.

Although the letter wasn’t fully read before the parliament, the speaker paraphrased it by saying he has apologised and met all the conditions given to him, Premium Times reports.

“He has fulfilled all the conditions by writing this letter and so he is free to resume his legislative duties whenever he wants if he so wishes”
