BREAKING: After 2 Years In Detention, Nnamdi Kanu Regains Freedom

A report by Saharareporters revealed that Kuje prison authorities released Mr. Kanu on Friday evening, following the finalization of the paperwork by Mr. Kanu’s lawyers and government officials.

The release followed the fulfilment of his bail conditions on Friday, with his co-accused, still remanded in detention.

Channel TV reports that the Director of Radio Biafra was seen at the Federal High Court Abuja along with sureties perfecting his bail conditions.

Kanu was on Tuesday granted bail by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja, on health grounds.

The bail is the first since the commencement of his trial for alleged treason.

Mr. Kanu and three others are facing trial on allegations of treason among others.

According to the order, Mr. Kanu is to produce three sureties with N100 million each.

He is also expected to not be among a crowd.

The judge said Mr. Kanu must never be seen in a crowd of more than 10 people.

“No interviews and no rallies,” said Mrs. Nyako.

The judge made it clear that Kanu’s bail will be revoked, if any of the orders are flouted.

Mr. Kanu was arrested in October 2015 following allegations of treasonable felony by the federal government.

He was held in the custody of the State Security Service till the ruling in January 2016 when the Federal High Court ordered that the detained Biafra agitator be kept in prison custody.

Since his detention, Mr. Kanu has made various applications for bail which were refused by the different judges handling the matter.
