The National Executive Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has approved the expulsion of a former national vice chairman (South South) of the party, Hilliard Eta.

His expulsion followed his alleged refusal to withraw the suit against the party’s leadership.

The APC NEC, at a virtaul meeting on Tuesday, also extended the tenure of the caretaker commitee under the leadership of Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, for six months, while dissolving all state, zonal and national structures of the party.

At the NEC meeting, President Buhari commended the Buni-led caretaker committee for leading the party out of crisis and helping to reconcile aggrieved members who left the APC back to the party.

“I am convinced that in the last five months, since the appointment of the caretaker committee the initiatives taken have brought remarkably new atmosphere of hope in the party.

“Despite the challenge to restore peace in the party and the series of elections at hand, the fact that we have gained more members and that we are not losing members to the opposition under the present interim leadership, indicates improvement of the party,” he said.

The meeting which held in Abuja was attended by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, amongst others.
