Five-time winners Barcelona have been knocked out of the champions League in the group stage of the competition for the first time in 21 years.

Their long time nightmare Bayern Munich sealed their exit after thrashing the Spanish side 3-0 in the last group E game on Wednesday.

Thomas Muller scored the opener for Bayern in the 34th minute, while Sane doubled the lead 9 minutes later.

Benfica needed to defeat bottom side Dynamo Kyiv and then hope Bayern to beat Barcelona to qualify.
