BREAKING: Bayelsa: Supreme Court Annuls Lyon’s Election, Declares PDP Winner

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Lyon of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the election.

The court nullified the APC candidate’s election after disqualifying the APC’s deputy governorship candidate, Degi-Eremienyo, as a candidate in the election.

Degi-Eremienyo was said to have ran as Lyon’s running mate with fake results.

The Supreme Court, in an unanimous judgment delivered by Justice Ejembi Ekwo, consequently ordered INEC to withdraw Lyon’s certificate of return and issue a fresh certificate to the next aspirant with the highest votes in the poll.

In the result earlier announced by INEC, Lyon polled 352,552 votes to defeat Duoye Diri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 143, 172 votes.
