Onnoghen: We Erred In Our Charges, Summons To CJN – FG

The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) has adjourned the corruption trial involving the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen.

The CJN’s trial involving charges bordering on false assets and non-assets declaration was adjourned till Tuesday, January 22.

THE WHISTLER gathered that the CCT adjourned the trial after the lead prosecuting counsel, Aliyu Umar, SAN, admitted to the tribunal that due process was not followed in serving the Chief Justice with the charges and summons as required by the law.

Meanwhile, Justice Onnoghen was said to be absent at the tribunal today, but was represented by about 45 Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs).
