BREAKING: ‘Count Us Out Of MoU Signing With PDP, 44 Others’

The Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA) has distanced itself from the ongoing memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing between the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and 44 other opposition political parties.

Recall that the PDP had summoned all former ministers, state chairmen and other leaders of its party to a “critical meeting” at the Shehu Musa Yaradua Centre in Abuja, where they signed the MoU with the other parties on Monday.

The “crucial meeting” was announced by the National Secretary of the PDP, Senenator Umaru Ibrahim Tsauri.

But reacting to the development, Mr Bayo Olumoko, the spokesperson of APDA, distanced the party from media reports that it was among the 45 political parties that signed the MoU.

“Media reports has it that APDA was among the 45 political parties that will form mega alliance with the PDP to wrestle power from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).

“For the avoidance of doubt, the APDA is not part of any merger with the PDP and is not interested in any merger for now. The party has not taken any position as it is waiting for a better alternative and will make it known to its supporters and the public,” said Olumoko.

Meanwhile, present at the ongoing MoU signing between the PDP and other political parties are Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Senators Dino Melaye, David Mark, Aniete Okon, and all chairmen of the 44 opposition political parties amongst others.
