BREAKING: Court Grants INEC Go-ahead With Melaye’s Recall

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has gotten the nod from a Federal High Court in Abuja to begin Senator Dino Melaye’s recall process.

The Senator from Kogi west had approached the Federal High Court to challenge his planned recall by his constituents, for which the aforementioned court fixed today, September 11, to deliver the judgement.

The Senator had claimed that the 188, 588 signatures of his constituents submitted to INEC were forged.

Dino had claimed his recall process was being sponsored by the Yahaya Bello-led Kogi State Government.

Justice John Tsoho of the Federal High Court had ordered INEC to maintain status quo on Melaye’s recall, pending when the latter’s suit against the commission is heard.

Tsoho had fixed today’s date to hear the senator’s suit, after which the court then went on vacation.

But presiding over Dino’s suit, in Tsoho’s absence, was Nnamdi Dimgba, who today dismissed the Senators suit and granted INEC the go-ahead with the lawmaker’s recall process.
