BREAKING: Court Jails Ex-South Africa President Jacob Zuma

 South Africa’s constitutional court has sentenced former president Jacob Zuma to 15 months in jail.

The court found him guilty of contempt of court.

Justice Sisi Khampepe, who gave the verdict noted that Zuma violated the rules of court when he failed to appear before a Commission of inquiry as ordered by the court.

“The majority finds itself with no choice but to find that this kind of incalcitrance cannot be tolerated,” Khampepe read.

Recall that Zuma’s trial is still ongoing.

THE WHISTLER earlier reported that the country’s ex-president had on May 26, pleaded not guilty to corruption charges in a £3 billion arms deal.

Among other things, prosecutors accused Zuma of fraud and money laundering dating back to when he was deputy to former president Thabo Mbeki between 1999 and 2008.

The deal was for the purchase of fighter jets, helicopters, submarines and warships.

Zuma was the country’s president from 2009 to 2018.
