BREAKING: I Reported Malami To Buhari For Threatening State Of Emergency In Anambra – Gov Obiano
Anambra State Government, Willie Obiano, has revealed details of the meeting he held with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja.
Obiano had stormed the Presidential Villa on Thursday barely 24 hours after the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, said the Federal Government may declare emergency rule in Anambra if the governor should fail to address insecurity in the state.
Malami had said “you cannot rule out the possibility of declaration of state of emergency where it is established, in essence, that there is a failure on the part of the state government to ensure the sanctity of security of lives, properties and democratic order.”
The AGF made the statement while addressing State House correspondents after Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council meeting.
But speaking to journalists after his meeting with President Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Governor Obiano described Malami’s remarks as “very unfortunate”.
He said, “That’s a very unfortunate comment by the Attorney-General. Malami. Very unfortunate. I also reported that to the President and this is not in the books of the President because he knows that Anambra has been the safest state in Nigeria for seven years plus.”
