BREAKING: Imo Speaker Impeached Days After Deputy’s Removal

The Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Paul Emeziem, has been impeached during a plenary on Monday.

Emeziem was impeached by 19 out of 27 lawmakers who endorsed his impeachment amid tight security.

The member representing Obowo State Constituency, Kennedy Ibe, was sworn in as the new speaker immediately after Emeziem’s impeachment.

The new speaker was among the six suspended members of the house who were recalled on the day erstwhile deputy speaker was impeached.

THE WHISTLER reports that Emeziem’s impeachment came less than one week after his deputy was removed.
