BREAKING: Imo: Supreme Court Adjourns Ihedioha’s Case To March 2

The Supreme Court has adjourned its judgement review in the Imo governorship election to March 2, 2020.

The court had been scheduled to review its earlier verdict which sacked Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and declared Hope Uzodinma of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the validly elected governor of the state.

Ihedioha had prayed the court to review the nullification of his election, on the grounds that there were flaws in the results arrived at after the court added votes from 388 cancelled polling units.

The Supreme Court’s decision followed an appeal filed by Ihedioha’s lawyers, seeking more time to represent their case.

In the application, Ihedioha through his lead counsel, Kanu Agabi (SAN), prayed the court for a short adjournment to enable them put in more processes necessary for the appeal.

“My lords, processes are still coming in. Up till this morning, we were still receiving processes.

“We, therefore, apply for an adjournment to enable all the processes to come in,” Agabi said

Both the in-house lawyer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Tanimu Inuwa (SAN)  and Hope Uzodinma’s lawyer Damian Dodo(SAN), told the Judge that they would not oppose the appeal.

The panel led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad adjourned the case to March 2nd, 2020.
