“Together, they offered restoration and renewal in a single ticket. And America bought what they were selling: after the highest turnout in a century, they racked up 81 million votes and counting, the most in presidential history, topping Trump by some 7 million votes and flipping five battleground states,” TIME added.

According to the news website, the Person Of The Year are selected on basis of which personality they believe had great Influence for that year.

“TIME’s 2020 Person of the Year choice of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris keeps with tradition—and breaks new ground.

Harris is the first Vice President-elect to be named a Person of the Year. Harris is also the first Black person, first woman and first Asian-American to hold the office of Vice President,” the TIME management had said.

Biden was reportedly announced by US media as the President-elect but US President Donald Trump had rejected the results.

He is also challenging the November 3 presidential election, in court.
