Kano Assembly Suspends Five Pro-Sanusi Members 

Kano State House of Assembly has suspended five members for six months over misconduct.

The suspended lawmakers had disrupted the sitting of the house last week Monday, when they tried to stop consideration of a report by a committee of the house, indicting the former Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi.

The house following the rift was forced to adjourned its sitting to Monday 16, March, 2020.

The Speaker of the house, Abdulazeez Gafasa during the sitting on Monday announced the suspension of the six members who caused the uproar.

According to Gafasa, the members were suspended for six months over misconduct and violation of the rules guiding the state legislature.While announcing the suspension, Gafasa said, “the five members were suspended for violating the rules of the house especially Order IV Sub 4 a, b, d and e, disrupting the sittings of the house and preventing proceedings from going on. “They behave violently and even attempted to snatch away the mace in a clear attempt to sabotage the sitting of the house.”
