BREAKING: Lagos Varsity Postpones Examination Over Worker’s Strike

The Lagos State University (LASU) has postponed its Centre for General Nigerian Studies (CGNS) examinations billed for this week over the strike action embarked upon by some members of staff.

In a tweet on Monday, LASU told affected students to wait patiently for a date that would be communicated later.

“Following the ongoing industrial action by some staff unions, lasuites are hereby notified that the Centre for General Nigerian Studies (CGNS) examinations earlier scheduled for this week has been postponed.

“A new date would be communicated to students duly,” it tweeted.

The development may not be unconnected to the strike action of February 5 by the Joint Action Committee- the umbrella body for the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU) and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU).

It had asked its members to engage in the action over grievances with the federal government’s Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, IPPIS, as well as the non-payment of their minimum wage arrears since April 2020, among others.
