The rescheduled presidential and national assembly elections is billed to hold February 23rd, while the governorship and house of assembly elections will hold March 9th.

Recall that the election was postponed by the commission last Saturday over logistics issue.

He said, “We didn’t quite anticipate what happened last week, we have said so, we regret the inconvenience this has caused the nation.

“As a result of what happened on Saturday, I want to take this opportunity to assure you and assure Nigerians that this will not happen to the elections on the 9th of March; the governorship, state assembly and FCT area council elections.

“The beautiful thing about the election on the 9th of March, learning from the experiences last week is that we have already started delivering some of the critical materials to the state.

“Only two days ago we delivered all ballot papers for the north central political zone and as we speak, they are moving the materials for the north west geographical zone from Lagos to the various states.

“We are also moving the materials for the state assembly elections for the south west geographical zone either tonight or tomorrow.”

According to him, so far 95 percent reconfiguration of 180,000 card readers have been achieved.

He further warned politicians not to speak in a manner that will over heat the political atmosphere.
