BREAKING: Obaseki Meets Buhari, Resigns From APC

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Obaseki announced this on Tuesday after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

Recall that THE WHISTLER had exclusively reported that the governor defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after his party, the APC screening committee last Friday disqualified him from contesting the forth coming primaries of the party.

Also, it was gathered that the Edo governor defected to the PDP along with all 18 local government chairmen in the state.

The screening committee had disqualified the governor, alongside two others over discrepancies in his academic credentials.

However, the Adams Oshiomhole-led National Working Committee (NWC) upheld the decision on Saturday.

The governor, had after the disqualification said he would not appeal the decision.

The APC governorship primaries is expected to hold on July 22.
