BREAKING: Police Impose Dusk-To-Dawn Curfew In Bayelsa

The Nigerian Police Force, Bayelsa State Command has imposed a dusk- to-dawn curfew for three days in Bayelsa following outbreak of violence.

The curfew may not be unconnected to the violence that greeted the issuance of certificate of return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Diri Douye by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday, after the Supreme Court nullified the election of the then governor-elect of the state, David Lyon of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to the Commissioner of Police in the state, Uche Anozia, who made the announcement on Friday, the curfew will last between 8pm – 6am daily.

There were reports of attacks on the residence of the new governor-elect, as well as the residence of the former Governor, Seriake Dickson and the PDP secretariat by suspected hoodlums earlier today.

The governor-elect is expected to be sworn-in today, Friday.
