BREAKING: Police Promote 20,356 Officers, Upgrade 9 CPs To AIG

The Nigeria Police Force has witnessed the promotion of 20,356 senior officers among other transitions to higher ranks.

A statement by the Police Service Commission (PSC) signed by its spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, said nine Commissioners of Police (CPs) were also promoted to Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIG).

Ani another nine were promoted from the rank of Deputy Commissioner to Commissioners of Police.

The officers’ promotion was approved during the commission’s 11th plenary meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, said the spokesperson.

The meeting was presided over by its Chairman, Musiliu Smith, a retired Inspector General of Police (IGP).

The Commission approved the promotion of three Chief Superintendents (CS) to Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP) and 1,577 Deputy Superintendents (DS) to Superintendents of Police.

Also, 2,293 Assistant Superintendents climbed to the rank of DSP.

“It also approved the promotion/confirmation of 7,283 Assistant Superintendents (ASP11) to Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP1), 9,072 Inspectors to ASP11 and 110 Inspectors promoted to Senior Inspectors,” the PSC said.

Smith called on the newly promoted officers to see their new positions as a call to more commitment to the duty.

He said the commission would continue to ensure that “promotions are regular and based on the relevant rules and regulations”.
