One policeman have been killed and three others injured after unknown gunmen attacked Kolo Police Station in Ogbia LGA of Bayelsa State.
Confirming the incident, the Police in a statement signed by the Bayelsa Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Asinim Butswat stated that the injured were taken to an undisclosed Hospital.
The Police stated that the incident occurred after it received a tip off on a vehicle allegedly conveying suspected militants.

Following the interception of the vehicle, two of the suspects resisted attempt by the policemen to search their vehicle. The police however arrested and handcuffed them.
“In the ensuing uproar, members of the community gathered around the vehicle and rescued the arrested suspects and the Policemen were attacked.”
DSP Butswat said, “the crowd was partly responsible for the attack on the Policemen.”
DSP Butswat further enjoined members of the public to assist the Police in fighting crime rather than complicating police investigations.
